Brooke Fletcher’s Inner & Outer Beauty
by Hannah Gaddis
Brooke Fletcher, an upcoming senior at Starr’s Mill High School, along with her family, has been an active member of Heritage for the past 8 years. It has been my joy and a true honor to watch this energetic, talented girl grow into the compassionate exceptional young woman she is today. When I first met Brooke she was just a little girl, but I knew in my heart that God had His favor on her. Last summer I had the privilege of going on a mission trip to Mexico with Brooke. It was in Mexico that the love of Jesus captured Brooke’s heart, and she made the decision to wholeheartedly follow Him. And, it was also in Mexico that Brooke made the decision to be baptized, and she bravely and confidently confessed in front of her friends that she was committing to live a life that was glorifying to Him.
When Brooke returned from that special trip to Mexico she was determined to continue her service to Jesus by making a difference right here in Peachtree City. Brooke chose to serve as a member of the Children’s Ministry team at Heritage. She served on a weekly basis as an energetic and dedicated small group leader for the 5th grade girls in Hangar 56. It was such a blessing to watch her pour wisdom and confidence into these young girls.
Brooke is a well-rounded young woman who participates in a wide variety of extracurricular activities. For the past few years she has participated in several beauty pageants. Last November Brooke competed against 60 other young women for the title of Miss Georgia Teen USA. Not surprisingly, Brooke was crowned the 2009 winner. Since taking the official title of Miss Georgia Teen USA Brooke has been involved in many charitable organizations, parades, and social events throughout the state of GA. Recently, Brooke accepted the challenge of participating in the Miss Teen USA pageant. Brooke worked tirelessly toward the goal of winning this huge pageant with the hope that by obtaining the title of Miss Teen USA, she would have the opportunity to reach out and serve young girls across the country. The pageant took place in the Bahamas on July 31, 2009. Throughout the pageant Brooke exhibited her typical grace under pressure, and her inner beauty was as apparent as her gorgeous smile in every phase of the competition. In the end Brooke was named 1st Runner Up, an amazing accomplishment for an amazing individual.
“And I want women to get in there with the men in humility before God, not primping before a mirror or chasing the latest fashions but doing something beautiful for God and becoming beautiful doing it.” 1 Timothy 2:9-10 (The Message)
